Does your child get stumped by the 4 pictures given in their Writing question paper? Fear not, as they are merely a WG holiday workshop away from sharpening their story-unpacking skills!

🤓 Under our Writing Specialists, they will develop their visual literacy, allowing them to interpret each picture more effectively and ensure they do not overlook important details. They will also be sure to organise their thoughts and ideas more articulately to create a better flow within their stories.

🎬 Is your child having trouble using emotive phrases in their writing? This seems like a call for WG’s very own proprietary writing technique!

🔑 Our cloze passage, which keeps in line with the theme of generosity, helps our students to unlock key vocabulary. This aids them in enhancing their writing skills when they are able to broaden their vocabulary range with enthusiasm - vocabulary they may not be exposed to in everyday life.

🎭 Colourful Characterisation will be an added bonus to the wonderful repertoire of techniques in our workshop. This will make it easier for your child to describe the characters in their stories and bring them to life!

Finally, with the assistance of our fantastic teachers, your child will put everything they have learned into crafting their own 4-paragraph story using the techniques our teachers have taught. 😊 Our in-house proprietary emotive technique imparts the teaching of words that evoke strong feelings and capture readers' attention, keeping them engaged. When a story resonates emotionally, readers are more likely to invest in the story and continue reading.

🧑‍🎓 Through the cloze passage, not only will students acquire new vocabulary, they will also discuss themes of kindness and observe how other techniques (such as Introduction, Colourful Characterisation, Show Not Tell, Dilemma, Mothers' Magic Words, Conclusion) are tastefully woven into the story.

🧐 We will also teach your child the distinction between Similes and Metaphors. Such techniques show strong visual images allowing readers to visualise scenes and characters more clearly. In class, we will scaffold them by breaking down the techniques using exciting games that are sure to keep them on the edge of their seat. Believe us when we say they will return home wanting more!

✨“Unwrap the gift of imagination and watch your holiday tales twinkle like the stars!”✨

This holidays, let us celebrate writing, amongst the many gifts of life! Writing a great story is akin to putting up and decorating a Christmas tree. How does one do this? By using exciting vocabulary and writing techniques to bring it to life!

🤝 Generosity is a frequently tested theme in the PSLE. While this topic may seem daunting, with the help of our teachers, your child will be equipped with the required knowledge to plan their own stories and skillfully tackle this theme. They will also receive personalised evaluations of their story, in addition to learning the definitions and the keyword of the topic, which is crucial in gaining Content marks.

Does your child struggle with crafting emotive descriptions in their stories; which is a key booster for Content and Language? By joining this workshop, they will master our in-house proprietary emotive technique which is easily applicable to many topics! A touching tale of generosity will also be unpacked within the lesson, which shows a cornucopia of techniques embedded within; such as Flashback, Colourful Characterisation, Show Not Tell, Dilemma, Super Suspense and Flash Forward.

🕰 Flashbacks have always been a popular choice for introductions among our students! Not only can they evoke strong emotions by connecting readers to pivotal moments in a character's life, flashbacks can create suspense and keep readers hooked within the story. Reel your examiner in - hook, line, and sinker! Finally, after mastering all these critical techniques, your child will generate their own plotline and create their own one-of-a-kind composition.

🖊 Detailed marking feedback will be provided so that your child can understand which aspects need to be improved. Bridging those gaps explicitly will undoubtedly help your child achieve the grade that he or she deserves.
